FAQ
WHAT LEVEL AERIAL SKILLS SHOULD I BOOK?
We require all those beginning their aerial silks journey to complete our introductory silks course to learn the basics, aerial language and how to climb. If you have experience in aerial silks please contact the studio so that we can select the correct level for you.
IS AERIAL SKILLS DANGEROUS?
Any aerial class has the potential to be dangerous without proper instruction. Our teachers have undergone teacher training in order to bring you the best possible course we can offer while ensuring your safety. It is vital that you listen carefully to your instructor. We have planned our courses and lessons thoroughly in order to build your strength as you progress through the course and are introduced to different moves when we are confident you are ready for them.
WHAT MUSCLES DO YOU WORK IN AERIAL SILKS?
Aerial silks is a complete body workout. A common misconception is that is it solely an upper body skill. Upper body is a big part yes, but we must also activate our legs muscles and core in order to achieve the moves and skills we are looking to create. We ensure to target each of these areas individually in our warm up and conditioning sections of the class to help you activate them while in the air.
WHAT DO I WEAR/BRING TO AN AERIAL SKILLS CLASS
Workout wear that covers the arms and legs. Cotton or cotton blend fabric is best (non-slippery). Tops: A little tighter is better. Bottoms: Leggings are best, make certain they are opaque (non-see through) and with no zippers as they can tear the fabric. We do not recommend joggers or sweatpants and they can tangled in the fabric. Undergarments: Sports bra for females, fitted bottoms for men. Remember, you will be upside down. Don’t forget your water bottle to stay hydrated. PLEASE NO JEWELLERY or clothing with zips.
I HAVE NO UPPER BODY STRENGHT, CAN I STILL DO AERIAL?
Restorative Antigravity Yoga allows deep relaxation and holding poses for longer periods of time with the help of the antigravity yoga hammock to completely support you. The main focus of Restorative Antigravity Yoga is that by relaxing in poses, with the aid of the antigravity yoga hammock, without strain or pain, we can attain physical, mental and emotional relaxation.
CAN I TEACH MYSELF AT HOME?
We do not encourage home teaching at all. As we have said aerial arts can be very dangerous when not being led by a trained instructor. The rigging points are also extremely important, we have ours tested to 3000lbs. We are more then happy to recommend floor exercises for you to practice at home that will benefit your aerial progression.
