FAQ

what is restorative antigravity yoga?

Restorative antigravity yoga uses our specially designed antigravity yoga hammock as a prop to assist the body in attaining postures. The hammocks are suspended 20cm off the ground and are used to encourage full range of lumbar spine movement through a variety of yoga poses and sequences.

WHat is restorative antigravity yoga good for?

Restorative Antigravity Yoga allows us to practice relaxation and develop the skills and abilities to self-soothe. It improves our capacity for healing through helping your body regulate the stress response and re-balance the nervous system.

Is restorative antigravity yoga hard?

A restorative practice can rest your body, stretch your muscles, lower your heart rate and blood pressure, and calm your nervous system, moving you into a peaceful state of deep relaxation. But while the practice of restorative yoga comes easily to some people, it can present real challenges for others.

What is the main focus of restorativr antigravity yoga?

Restorative Antigravity Yoga allows deep relaxation and holding poses for longer periods of time with the help of the antigravity yoga hammock to completely support you. The main focus of Restorative  Antigravity Yoga is that by relaxing in poses, with the aid of the antigravity yoga hammock, without strain or pain, we can attain physical, mental and emotional relaxation.

How is restorative antigravity yoga different to a normal antigravity yoga class?

If you have attended one of our normal antigravity yoga classes before the major differences you will notice are that the class is a much slower pace with longer holding of poses. The hammocks are also at knee height instead of waist height making this a predominantly floor led practice and also much more accessible to those without a strong core and upper body strength.

Does restorative yoga build muscle?

Restorative Antigravity Yoga does not work with the superficial muscles to a large extent instead it has an intense effect on the deep muscles, joints and spine. As mentioned previously, it is a very slow pace class so there is very little chance you could become injured while practicing it. It is the perfect exercise to extend your mobility safely.
